With the growing franchise sector in Nigeria, the country has become a prime recruitment target for the world's largest Franchise Consultancy and Publishing Group, Franchise Development Services of the UK.
According to FDS Managing Director Roy Seaman, "the scale and strength of the Nigerian franchise sector means that we are now seriously looking to grant FDS Master Franchise Rights. This will become part of our worldwide network of offices dedicated to promoting national and international franchise development."
Nigeria’s national economy, he continues, "is ripe for benefiting from franchise intensification and FDS Nigeria will be at the forefront of this initiative. Existing FDS offices in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Singapore and Malaysia have all worked extensively with their respective governments, who quickly recognised the value of franchising for boosting their economies."
FDS has a strong track record advising and assisting some of the world's major franchise brands with their national and international strategies - including some of the more go-ahead global franchisors such as Subway, Burger King, Domino's Pizza and Jani-King. The group publishes leading franchise publications including Franchise International (worldwide), European Franchising, Franquicias y Negocios (Spain), The Franchise Magazine (UK) and Asia Franchise & Business.
Observes Roy Seaman: "Our own international network of offices has proved itself efficient at helping famous brand franchisors to target all areas of the globe and it is hoped that FDS Nigeria will also be instrumental in providing the lead, as well as developing new homegrown, exportable franchises." As with FDS counterparts in the Middle East, Asia, Italy and Spain, FDS offices will assist overseas franchisors to access the valuable Nigerian market.
"The aim," continues Roy Seaman, "is to provide our range of high-quality facilities to the Nigerian Franchise community, including consultancy expertise, feasibility analysis, financial and marketing advice, market research, publications and franchisee recruitment." FDS is seeking experienced Nigerian business or management professionals - individuals or companies with excellent contacts - to become fully trained and take the helm of their own FDS offices in Nigeria. Their role would be to both encourage the importation of new and famous franchise brands as well as facilitate Nigerian companies in adopting both national and international Franchise Development Programmes. “Already a number of Nigerian retail, restaurant and service based companies have successfully found their franchise route to success,” Roy Seaman adds. “Our network of offices around the world represents many new and famous brands that are keen to award the master franchise rights for their concept in Nigeria.”
The FDS Nigeria master franchise rights will require the investor to undergo a comprehensive initial four week training programme in the UK head office, followed by the establishment of a head office in the capital. FDS HQ will then assist with ongoing support, advice and guidance as is required. More than 40 clients of the FDS international network have already confirmed their interest in granting master franchise rights into the country.
